What the marks are. A student’s best attempt is the attempt with the best rate, and the score and the quiz length are read from that same attempt. The page compares rates rather than raw marks, because quizzes on this site are not all the same length: topic quizzes run to 15, older ones to 10, and mock papers to 50, 60 or 80. Ranking 9 out of 10 below 11 out of 15 would be wrong.
What the thresholds are. Over means a student rated the topic green and their best attempt is under half. Under means they rated it red or amber and their best attempt is 85% or better. A rating older than 90 days is shown in full ink rather than grey. A second attempt within 10 points of the first is called “about the same” rather than a rise or a fall, because two points across three students is noise and naming it movement would be a claim the data does not carry.
What movement is, and is not. Movement compares a student’s first attempt with their latest, not their best with their best, which could only ever go up. It appears only where somebody has sat the same topic twice, and most rows have nothing to compare and say so. This page does not predict grades, score engagement, or measure time on task: none of that is in the data.
